The Light in the Dark

God has beens showing me so many dreams about dark places but a light always being present. Never completely leaving me in the dark though. Once my eyes seek the light, there is this sudden switch from feelings of despair to hope. The despair came from my environment but the hope came from this distant light. Now, I have attempted to interpret these dreams. Not entirely but in part. I believe there are many messages God is sending but this is what I've gathered thus far. The message I get from these series of dreams is God wanting me and all of his children, to have an awareness, a connection with his light. When we are far off, because of influence and our own habit of sin, our wires get crossed. We can't know our left from our right or the difference between the dark and the light. He also wants us to know he is always present. He is always in the midst, even in the darkest of places where the enemy lured you into, but receive the confidence knowing that God is with us by spotting the light and following it. (O, Emmanuel who was sent by the father(John 1)) The Hebrew translation of the name "Emmanuel" is "God is with us" [and brief sidebar: I had an encounter with Jesus presenting himself to me as Emmanuel but I'll share that testimony some other time. It was profound, it lead me to scripture I never read before and then months later had another encounter with the Holy Spirit and another scripture that I had memorized since a child and I woke up saying it for no apparent reason at all. I don't know much but I know with certainty I didn't lose my mind but in fact, found it)

Okay, sorry back to the topic of my dreams. Not only is God with us just because he is ever present but with intention, for a purpose. To watch over, to guide, to protect. In my dream, there was also a choice to go where the light was. The light would sometimes be at a distance that would require me to walk towards it. I found myself hesitant at times, not because I didn't want it but because I didn't believe I could get to it. There was always something in the way. But that represented the negative influences and my own sinful nature. You know one thing about the light is that it doesn't only shine to brighten your life but it shines on what we try to hide and sometimes that is what holds so many people back. But you're missing out on the greatest breakthrough of living free. If you confess your sins to him, repent and go and sin no more, then all is forgiven, literally. The bible is filled with so many stories about people being freed from their sinful, shameful past. God is not impressed by our filth. He saw it before we were ever born. He just wants us to choose him, just like he chose us. There was a scene in my dream where suddenly, a light appears and catches my attention. But I somehow knew that it wasn't a light that's been turned on for the first time but a light that was always present to begin with but it was being intentionally blocked by the adversaries who benefited off me and everyone else being in the dark.

The dream was ultimately telling me to go where the light is no matter who and what you leave behind. I was always with people in the dark but felt no love, no satisfaction. Then once I go to the light I felt a change. A contentment. A belonging. I didn't feel like a black sheep anymore. But I also noticed that there was never a lot of people where the light was. It was always a very small number in comparison to who would be in the dark places; Think of the pillar of fire the LORD provided for the Hebrews after being delivered from Egypt. It probably terrified them but also how amazing it was. for God so loved his people, he would provide them light in the depths of the wilderness. But I also think about how in Genesis God separated the dark from the light, since the beginning. That's his divine order. So he divides the dark from the light to not only leave those who work in the dark to remain in the dark but to also establish order, to preserve and to ultimately protect his sheep, The Good Shepherd. What more will it take for us to believe it enough to walk in faith even in the dark places? You think you'd love a genie more if he gave you three wishes? The genie didn't tell you that you have to do something for him. That your soul is the price you pay. But Jesus paid the price for my life, for your life. And all he wants for his beloved creation is to follow his light.

Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Isaiah 60:2-3
